Determining Estimated Time Enroute
To find ETE, set the rate pointer to the airplane's ground speed. Find the distance to be flown on the outer scale and read the ETE on the inner scale.
For example, at a ground speed of 112 knots, our ETE over a distance of 30 nautical miles will be 16.1 minutes.
Determining Ground Speed
Place the known distance flown over the actual time enroute. The rate pointer will indicate the actual ground speed.
For example, if we just travelled 16 nm in 9 minutes, our ground speed was 107 knots.
