Legally, aerobatic flight is any intentional maneuver involving an abrupt change in an aircraft's attitude, an abnormal attitude, or abnormal acceleration, which is not necessary for normal flight.

Aerobatic flight is prohibited:

1. Over any towns or groups or people

2. In Class B, C, or D airspace areas

3. Within a Class E airspace designated for an airport

This refers to Class E surface areas and approach transitions, which are extend down to 700 feet AGL or all the way to the ground.

4. In a federal airway

5. Below an altitude of 1,500 above the ground

6. With a flight visibility of less than 3 statute miles
