Place the rate pointer on the rate of fuel burn. Read time on the inner scale and fuel burned on the outer scale.

For example, if our airplane burned fuel at 11 gallons per hour for an hour and ten minutes, 12.8 gallons was burned.

Determining Fuel Burn Rate

Place the fuel amount burned over the time period. Rate of burn is indicated by the rate pointer.

If we burned 23 gallons and our trip took 1:53, then our rate of burn was 12.2 gallons per hour.

Determining Fuel Time Remaining

Place the rate pointer at the rate of fuel burn. Find the number of gallons remaining on the outer scale and time remaining on the inner scale.

If the airplane we are flying burns 8.5 gph and 30 gallons remain, then we have 3:32 fuel remaining, or 212 minutes.
